CHRISTMAS IS COMING TO CAN VIDAL!

Spending the Christmas holidays in Mallorca is an incredible option, as you can enjoy a wide range of lovely activities, as well as the beautiful Mallorcan landscape. To that end, we are giving you a list of tips and ideas for things you can do during your stay at Can Vidal.

The turning on of the lights in Palma saturates the city with a Christmas spirit. You can stroll through the capital and have a delicious hot chocolate at Can Joan de s’Aigo or at the Churrería Rosaleda. You can also visit different traditional nativity scenes or go ice-skating at the Parc de Ses Estacions.

Another wonderful option is the Christmas markets. There, you can pick out gifts, savour the most varied foods and give your letter to Father Christmas or the Three Wise Men. The best and biggest are in Puerto Portals, Pueblo Español, Port Adriano and Plaça Major in Palma.

You can also enjoy nature. There are amazing landscapes, such as sa Dragonera, Cabrera, s’Albufera Natural Park, the scenic viewpoint of Formentor and Es Trenc Beach. You may also like to visit the Monasterios de Lluc or Randa, reached by a hiking trail. You may even find snow!

Have you heard about the Canto de la Sibil·la (Song of the Sybil)? It is a medieval Gregorian chant sung at les matines of Christmas and at the rooster’s mass on the evening of 24 December. Today, they have only endured in Mallorca and Alghero, Italy, and were declared an Asset of Cultural Interest and Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. The loveliest and most enthralling chants can be heard at the Catedral de Palma and at the Monasterio de Lluc.

And you can’t forget Mallorca’s traditional Christmas cuisine! You must try the galets rellenos (Christmas soup with stuffed giant pasta shells), suckling pig, almond nougat and coca de torró (a sweet almond tarte), to name just a few.
